Seeking God

I love how God can teach me so much when I least expect it.  The verse that I will be teaching the children at the Good News Club this week is 1 Chronicles 22:19  " Now set your mind and heart to seek the LORD your God."  Wow!  I want this to be my life verse.  This should be what I am doing all the time.  This should be my life goal.

Set your mind and heart.....  determine or purpose your mind and heart

It is a planned, intentional activity that involves my thoughts and my attitude.  If I am determined then nothing should interfere or cause me to get off course.

What should I be determined to do?

.....to seek the LORD my God

I should be purposefully and intentionally determined to seek God.  To make Him the number 1 focus in my life.  This focus on seeking God should reflect in all I do.   I should be asking questions like ....Will this activity glorify God?  Will this relationship draw me closer to God?  Is what I am saying pointing others to God?  You see as I seek the LORD I should want to bring Him glory in all I do.

What does God promise if we seek Him first?

"Therefore do not be anxious, saying, "What shall we eat? or "What shall we drink? or "What shall we wear?"  For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.  But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."

God promises to provide all that we need if we are seeking after Him.  He promises that if we make it our goal to put Him first He will take care of us.  Notice He says He will provide for our needs not that He will give us whatever we want.

I never want God to give me more than I need because I don't want my stuff to become more important to me than my relationship with my Savior.

My prayer is that the driving force in my life would be to seek after God with all my mind and heart.
